Overhead crane types that we sell and service
Our preferred suppliers, Konecranes and Eilbeck, provide a wide range of quality lifting solutions in Australia. We support the Konecranes and Eilbeck products we sell with our own proven overhead crane maintenance service.
Overhead bridge cranes
A bridge crane is comprised of a bridge (with an attached hoist) that travels along two parallel runways (fixed to the walls). Bridge cranes are very common in industrial settings, and are usually identified by their hoist technology or girders.
The bridge crane family includes: chain hoist cranes, wire rope hoist cranes, open winch cranes, single girder cranes, double girder overhead cranes, monorail overhead cranes and underslung overhead travelling cranes.
Overhead gantry cranes
An overhead gantry crane sits at the top of a gantry (a U-shaped steel framework). The gantry can either sit on wheels (mobile gantry crane) or be attached to fixed rails at ground level. Many operations looking for a small overhead crane choose an overhead gantry crane or a mobile gantry crane.
Like bridge cranes, overhead gantry cranes are often identified by the hoist technology they use: chain hoist gantry crane, wire rope gantry crane or open winch gantry crane. At Complete Crane & Electrical, we advise you on the right type of gantry crane and hoist technology.
Jib cranes
A jib crane is an L-shaped crane that’s usually attached to a floor (pillar jib crane) or wall (wall-mounted jib crane). Jib cranes provide a cost-effective way of lifting “smaller” loads (usually up to 6 tonnes). If required, jib cranes can be customised to lift heavier loads.
Jib cranes are unique in that they rotate (a process called slewing). Most wall-mounted jib cranes rotate up to 180°, whilst highly-customised pillar jib cranes can rotate up to 360°. In terms of hoist technology, jib cranes can be fitted with electric chain hoists, wire rope hoists and pneumatic lifting devices.
Vacuum lifters / glass lifters
Vacuum lifters use compressed air (in tandem with large suction cups) to lift, tilt and rotate heavy and/or sensitive items, such as glass panels. More expensive vacuum lifters usually have sensors (for collision avoidance), audio-visual warning systems and redundant air compressors / vacuum pumps.
Vacuum lifters are regularly used in the construction, glass, paper and printing industries. Complete Crane & Electrical has considerable experience when it comes to the supply and servicing of vacuum lifters (also referred to as vacuum glass lifters in the glass industries). We’ll help you choose the right vacuum lifter – based on your industry and lifting requirements.
